Snow Fences

Even though I live in Florida I still long for the whites of winter and the frosty window panes and windshields. I’m silly I know but it’s just my hometown roots. I just remembered the snow fences along the back roads in the farmers fields. The fences were put up to stop the snow from drifting across the road. Most farmers didn’t take them down after the winter season. I remember them painted in barn red paint and the jagged roughness to the wood. And how they were strung together with twisted wire. This winter most fences are completely buried under a snowdrift and won’t see the light of day until Spring.

Cindy my family is still snowed in up in PA but it’s getting better. Snow is melting and sliding off the roofs now. But they might have more snow today! I know, something made me think of snow fences for some reason. Homesick I guess and missing the excitement that a good blizzard can bring. And here I sit with the heat on and still can’t get warm and it’s in the mid 50’s! LOL I guess I’ve lived in Florida too long : )
I had forgotten all about snow fences. I guess because I haven’t seen one in so many years. I think the last snow I saw was in Winston-Salem, NC about 1994. The whole place came to a standstill. Kind of like PA the other week!
Wow Susie I love your idea for the use of the old-timey snow fence. That would be a cool idea for my shop too! Hmmm…..next time I go home I’m going on a raid! LOL
I would love to get my hands on a roll or two of that fencing.
Joe and I just talked about that last week. Now, it’s orange plastic stuff.. not the cool weathered wood and rusted wire. I would be so tempted to use that as wainscoting along one wall.
